About

My sessions are 60-120 minutes in length. I have done this for the last 30 years. Clients have experessed their preference for extended sessions over the standard clinical hour of 45-50 minutes, reporting that they felt they made more progress and were able to go reduce their stress and anxiety quicker.

I have been educated and trained in clinical psychotherapy, Christian counseling and court work in family and juvenile court. I have many specialities including couples, sex abuse and all trauma's, children-adults and many more.

My relationships with my clients is the most satisfying component of providing therapy, by far. Over the years, my clients have referred their friends and family members, children and even grandchildren to me for counseling.

I tried working with HMO's for a several years but learned that it was not possible to provide quality counseling services at their low rates of reimbursement ($50) and high case loads they require. I maintain a small case load so I can give every client the time they deserve for the best counseling service possible. I would expect no less for services provided to my children or family members.

He took his time. He gave extra time over one hour for sessions and was never in a hurry to end them until all of my questions were answered.

    Frequently asked questions

Interested new clients usually call me at 602-896-1000 or email me at [email protected], so we can find a day and time that works for them.  Appointments are usually scheduled Monday - Saturday, durng afternoons and early evenings.  At the first session we will review their reason for seeking counseling, their goals for counseling and review their history and relevant events.

My education and training have qualified me to provide therapy services in clinical, forensic and Christian counseling, assessment, testing, consultation, and mediation. I work with children from ages 18 months, adolescents and adults through their 80's.

I have attended the University of Nebraska, Grand Canyon University, Arizona College of the Bible, Northern Arizona University, Ottawa University, and Capella University.  I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology, Masters of Education in Counseling, completed post-masters work in counseling and psychology and was admitted into my Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program.  I later taught ministry courses at Arizona College of the Bible and Psychology courses for many years at local community colleges as an adjunct professor.

I completed four years of supervised training in Forensic Psychotherapy and have worked with the Family Court, as well as the juvenile, civil and criminal courts for over 20 years, completing work on over 1,000 cases in these courts.

Yes there are standard rates, which vary from $70 to $150 per hour, depending on the services requested or needed.

My Father worked with Dr. Donald Cliffton, evaluating applicants for insurance sales positions, matching the sales people with the managers who were the best fit for them.  I later worked for Dr. Clifton in college conducting in-depth 5 hour interveiws for their personality assessment by the staff psychologsits.  Dr. Clifton grew Gallop polls into a company that works with government entities, the public and many other entities.  Dr. Clifton is known as the grandfather of positive psychology.

In the last 30+ years I have worked with thousands of people in their marriages, family of origin work, their parenting and children, teenagers, chemical dependency and addictions, domestic violence, PTSD, physical and sexual abuse,  ADHD, depression, anxiety, personality disorders and many psychometric assessments to locate areas that clients are struggling in.

You need to sit down and see how you work with your potential counselor.  You cannot determine if they will be of help to you by their website, credentials, etc.
