My sessions are 90-120 minutes in length. I have done this for the last 30 years. Clients have experessed their preference for extended sessions over the standard clinical hour of 45-50 minutes, reporting that they felt they made progress quicker, were able to go into more depth regarding their marriage or personal history and eased the anxiety of those in crisis.
Clients have remarked that by having more time to go into greater depth and ask more questions, they go to the root of their problems, which relieved their anxiety sooner.
My relationships with my clients is the most satisfying component of providing therapy, by far. I was tested in 1980 by Donald Clifton, Ph.D., the "grandfather of positive psychology" before working for him and he revealed that relationships would be central to my vocational satisfaction.
I tried working with HMO's for a few years but learned that no private practice therapist can maintain their practice financially without carrying 35-50 active clients on the small reimbursement rates (ex. $25-$50) that HMO's are willing to pay. No therpiast can provide personalized, individual attention to that many clients at once.
Since changing my practice to a cash only basis I have been able to maintain a small case load that allows me to provide whatever amount of time a client needs duriing a crisis or through difficult times with the quality of care that I would expect for my family members.
Brooks is very knowledgable about working with families, especially issues related to forensics and court cases. He is an excellent counselor, custody evaluator, parenting coordinator, interventionist, visitation supervisor, and mediator.
By completing his homework and counseling, we decided against getting a divorce and are still married and getting stronger every day.
The professionalism of Brooks Gibson. He was honest, encouraging, knowledgeable and professional.
He was very thorough, professional and knowledgeable.

My Father worked with Dr. Donald Cliffton, evaluating applicants for insurance sales positions, matching the sales people with the managers who were the best fit for them. I later worked for Dr. Clifton in college conducting in-depth 5 hour interveiws for their personality assessment by the staff psychologsits. Dr. Clifton grew Gallop polls into a company that works with government entities, the public and many other entities. Dr. Clifton is known as the grandfather of positive psychology.
