About
Discovery Counseling Group was established in 2009. We contract with Developmental Disability Administration (DDA) and Department of Children Family Services (DCFS). We accept most private insurance carriers and other forms of payment. Discovery Counseling Group is staffed by State licensed clinicians and caring administrative staff with years of service.
Discovery Counseling Group offers counseling services such as individual, family, marriage, grief, and relationship. We offer other services such as mental health assessments, group therapy, youth outreach, behavioral management, and life coaching.
It is the mission of Discovery Counseling to provide the highest quality of care, by utilizing a balance of professionalism, knowledge, dignity, compassion, empathy and respect to each and every client we are given the opportunity to serve. Our work will be all inclusive of adults, children, teenagers and families. Regardless of the challenges you are facing it is our professional goal to be of assistance and service to every client as they learn and grow through the difficult challenges in their lives to become the best individual that he or she can be.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New clients are asked to fill out the intake packet and then set up an intake appointment.
We have set up standing appointments for our clients to continue services.
We will work together to develop treatment goals and formulate the most effective ways to assist you in meeting said goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All clinicians at Discovery are master level and are state licensed to provide therapeutic services.

Additional, follow up sessions are $165 each
How did you get started in this business?
The business began as a small private practice and then developed into a community behavioral health agency 4 years later. 9 years later, we are still able to help people appreciate a version of themselves.
What types of customers have you worked with?
all types of clients. We have contracts with several state agencies. We work with individuals, couples, infants, youth, adolescents, young adults, and older adults.
We specialize in working with people with intellectual delays and disadvantaged/disfranchised youth.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We rejoice in celebrating our clients' understanding of themselves and their reactions. Many have gone years feeling misunderstood. It is an amazing feeling to be genuinely heard and seen. We are gifted with the opportunity to provide this for those we serve regularly.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Don't settle, find the person you connect with. Try it out and don't force it. keep trying
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
The client should know the areas of concern and then ask for homework. This will assist in finding out the direction the clinician is going in regards to the treatment.
