About

My approach is collaborative and deeply trusting. I believe in you, as The expert on you, and by taking the time and effort to meet, you are expressing a willingness to journey inward. I trust myself as a healing practitioner, skilled in deep presence and the ability to see you without judgment. Together, the magic of healing unfolds in unexpected and meaningful ways.

I love seeing how often from the deepest point of struggle, comes grace. Grace comes from purging our past in an intentional manner. Grace comes from something bigger and unknowable, beyond us. Grace comes from the relief one feels after unpacking trauma, or facing a hard truth, and grace comes, again and again.

I have been working with Cheryl for over two years. She has helped me get through a divorce, a move, a significant job change, the pandemic, and a car accident. Cheryl is a kind, caring, flexible, competent therapist and a consummate professional. I am thankful that I found her on Thervo! I highly recommend Cheryl to others who are seeking counseling.

Cheryl Lister truly saved my life. After years of trial and error with various types of therapy and treatment, Ive never felt more comfortable with a practitioner. Cheryl has helped me work through my deepest insecurities and anxieties by actively listening and giving insightful perspectives along with tools to efficiently move forward with a more harmonious outlook. Ive worked with Cheryl in both a family therapy setting along with individual, and cant recommend her enough. Thank you for the constant support, Cheryl!

Cheryl is so easy to talk to, she made me feel very comfortable. It was simple to open up with her and share my deepest fears and experiences that I would not necessarily want to share with others.
She was able to work very well with me and it has made a huge difference in my life.

During lifes challenges like right now when uncertainty and confusion are more part of our daily lives than we would like or, when faced with depression, and questions loom about how to manage in difficult times, Cheryl is one of the most trusted counseling professionals I know that can help guide you through the chaos of what we encounter.
Cheryl works with individuals and couples helping them to move into a better place in their lives, be it due to trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and much more. Its unnerving and upsetting to be challenged by the curve balls of life. But for those that are struggling, having someone like Cheryl to really listen, provide insight and real resources of connection you couldnt ask for a better professional for guidance. Cheryl is a wealth of wisdom and knowledge and knows how to help clients move into a healing experience.
In addition, she has provided excellent services to couples that find themselves in a surrogacy situation. Explaining details, how it works, she is expert in helping couples mitigate all aspects of journeying through this experience.
Cheryl is dedicated, caring, knowledgeable, respectful and professional in her approach to any of person looking for help in difficult times. I wouldnt hesitate to call on her.

One of the things that stands out for me is that Cheryl has listening fine-tuned. I feel heard when I talk with her. She has a way of embracing you even if its not in person. Im kind of scared right now, I feel disconnected from my husband and everyone. With Cheryl I feel safe and non-judged. I feel respected and honored right where I am, even if I am freaking out she has a way of helping me get down off the ceiling and find ways to reconnect. She has given me tools (shall I say?), or really, methods, to help me slow down and feel in control. Im so very grateful to her, I will always come back to her and would highly recommend her to others that are in need. Dont hesitate Cheryl is a beautiful professional and cares deeply about our situation. She is really a gift.

My joy and passion has always been to have a deep level of conversation with family and friends.  I naturally gravitated toward psychology as I grew up, which for me is about knowing our true Selves, and the Selves of others.  In my 20's, I belonged to a non-denominational church and became a Minister.  I focussed on counseling individuals and groups in the role.  This led to my desire to return to school for a Master's in Transpersonal Counseling - Psychology. From there, I opened my counseling beyond the church to the general public.

I have worked with men and women, children, group therapy, couples.  Common themes we have addressed are anxiety, life purpose, infertility, depression, grief, loss, spiritual crisis, sexual abuse, relationship challenges, divorce, life after divorce, raising children in the modern world, and self-discovery/self-actualization.

In the past five years I have worked with many intended parents facing infertility and trying to build their families via non-traditional means such as adoption, egg donation and surrogacy.  Recently I was in a yoga class that was focusing on the heart and I had the realization that the time is right to re-expand my counseling practice to include anyone who is dealing with challenges in their lives and is seeking a counselor.  I felt that my heart actually sent that message to me, that it is my calling and someone is calling.  If it's you, please don't hesitate to reach out.  I am here.

I would suggest that you ask the prospective counselor if you can have a free phone call consultation.  I think it is important to feel a sense of connection and you can intuit a lot from a 15 minute call.  If the feeling of safety and being "heard" isn't there then move on.  Trust that there is someone right for you but it's a bit like a treasure hunt and you may need to peek under a few stones to find him/her.
