Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We typically begin with a free consultation session to talk about the patients history and determine the best path moving forward for him or her in regards to therapy. This also allows the patient to determine if I'm the best fit for them and their needs. It's not manadatory to have a consultation session before scheduling your first regular appointment though.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client Centered Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy to help people who are struggling with depression and anxiety in order to live more meaningful and satisfying lives.
During adolescence, I found psychology interesting and loved the subject and decided to attend the University of North Texas where I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. After college, even though I worked outside of the mental health industry for awhile, the calling to work in the field of psychology and help people never subsided. As such, I went on to earn my Masters of Science degree in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University so I could finally pursue my passion of psychology and helping people.
I've spent many years working in the public mental health sector serving people with severe and persistent mental illness with diagnoses of bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia and addiction. I also spent valuable time working with Dallas' homeless population while working as a therapist at The Cottages at Hickory Crossing, the tiny house community in Dallas for the chronically homeless.
During my career I have been blessed to give back in many ways. I've given several speeches for The Altshuler Center for Education and Research for Metrocare Services in Dallas to raise awareness and funds for the Center in order to continue the education of doctors, therapists, and mental healthcare professionals training through Metrocare Services and the research studies conducted by these professionals.
