About

Let's get right to the heart of things. Whatever is troubling in your most important relationships: ~we fight too much; ~we don't have anything in common anymore; ~help with our children's behavior; ~we're not communicating; ~our marriage is in the doldrums; ~I feel so alone; ~anger management issues; ~ mood problems... we can help you with that! Never let anyone tell you it's too late for your marriage or that your troubles are too tough to tackle! You CAN change and build that soul-filling connection with your spouse!

You may like to know where I learned all this. First, I'm married. For 50 years we've overcome struggles, and we're intact and happy! Second, I have children, nine of them. Parenting dramatically changes marriage! Third, graduate degrees in marriage and family therapy from Auburn University (Alabama) and Texas Tech (Lubbock). Fourth, with my well-stocked skills-based toolbox, I have been giving individuals, couples, and families unique supportive guidance for 20+ years!

Not many of us get to spend 20+ years doing the work we love! Helping you and people like you - individuals, couples, and families - to build, strengthen, and heal your most important relationships. It's amazing to walk with folks along the pathway of change and see the hope and love and joy emerge and blossom in their marriages and families! Every marriage can be healed, IF both people are willing to make the changes they each need to do, to encourage and support that healing to happen.

When I first reached out, Faline called me late in the evening that very night. I was so grateful and she was so comforting and validating. We set up our first appointment. She is a neutral party but so loving and compassionate to both of us. She doesnt play favorites and she helps us both understand ourselves and each other. She is always happy to see us, is humble and can relate to us. She is straightforward with us but ever so gentle and has taught us both very helpful and powerful tools we can use on our own. She has also continually reminded us of our worth and value. I love working with her and I would refer anyone to her!

Frequently asked questions

My first priority is YOU. Meeting your goals and getting you where you want to be is important to me. I like to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation first. 936-777-2481.

From the beginning, your privacy is very important! When you decide to schedule your first therapy appointment, you will receive information and my office paperwork by email to an encrypted email site. You will be able to print it, read it, fill it out, and bring it to our first appointment.

That first meeting will last 60 to 80 minutes, where I will seek to know you better, and you can ask me questions also! My goal is to understand thoroughly what is troubling you, and what you want to improve through our therapy work.

My education is all about couples, families, and individuals. My BS degree is Family Studies (Weber State U). My MS degree is Marriage and Family Therapy (Auburn U). My PhD degree is Marriage and Family Therapy (Texas Tech U). I have extensive training in attachment theory and therapy with Dr. Sue Johnson. I have training in couples and family therapy with Dr. John Gottman. I have extensive experience working with parenting issues. I also have lots of experience working with anger management.  My initial research was about stepfamily relationships; subsequent research has focused on divorce.

My rate is $135 for a one-hour session.

When I was a young woman, my mother and I fought about lots of things. I wished there were such a thing as "parent-teenager counselor", but there wasn't. Years later, I learned that, with a degree in Family Studies, I could continue my education and become a marriage and family counselor. This was my dream!  I put my feet on the path and never looked back!  The wonderful thing is that, in my studies, I learned how to have a better relationship with my mother!
