Take Heart Counseling & Equine Assisted Therapy
About
Everyone has the potential to find courage, heal, and grow, no matter their circumstances. We see people as more than a diagnosis. We are passionate about helping individuals, couples, families, and groups overcome a variety of struggles and find mental, emotional, and spiritual wholeness. We offer horse therapy sessions as well as traditional counseling at our beautiful outdoor facility, conveniently located between Lancaster and Reading, PA. The horses here make great partners for your therapeutic journey, and the environment is peaceful and natural.
We have warm, insightful, and experienced therapists on staff. Our therapists are certified in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, and are Master's Level Therapists or Licensed Professional Counselors. We combine real hope, evidence-based work, and horses to provide a truly healing experience for our clients.
Equine assisted therapy brings out deep, meaningful insights and emotions. Clients can practice change in the moment with the horse. We often see clients making significant changes in 4-6 sessions, and finding deeper healing in less than 6 months. This form of therapy is powerful! In the last 5 years of practicing, we have seen that while everyone's journey is unique, horses often speed up the healing process.
Our focus on trauma-informed care equips us to work with a wide variety of clients. You'll know we care! We offer sessions for individuals, family, and couples, and workshops on specific topics such as teamwork, leadership, or communication. Check our website or Facebook page for upcoming events & workshop offerings. Call today and ask how we can help you!

We love the opportunity to work with amazing people ready to change. Your story has immense value, and we are enjoy empowering you to write or re-write your life story. The horses are such wise, gentle creatures who give us important insights that help us recognize our strengths as well as areas of needed growth. It is incredible to see how the horses just "know" what someone needs in the moment.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Look for a professional with mental health credentials as well as equine credentials. Many well-meaning people are offering equine services, but do not have the mental health background to do so in a way that is safe for clients.
