I enjoyed working with Shawn & Greg because they made good useful suggestions that were easy to implement into my current & futurte workout plans. The location is extremely convenient. Shawn & Greg are exceptional at listening and taking my info into consideration when developing a strategy. Very collaborative.

Prior to physical therapy I had difficulty turning my head sharply, turning my head for long periods. Taking long walks was straining on the neck. This restricted physical activities including running and walking. Sometimes dressing was difficult. After activities my neck was super sore and would give me headaches. With PT I was able to eliminate the headaches and increase my physical activities.

I’ve been a runner for 20+ years and have not had any significant issues with me knees. Out of the blue I developed a ____ knee issue. Super crazy pain in my right knee. Within one week, I couldn’t run at all because it hurt so badly. The pain was waking me at night. And I was preparing for Hood to Coast ☹. My orthopedic surgeon diagnosed this as Runner’s Knee/IT Band issue and recommended PT. He felt I’d be able to run again in 2-4 weeks. I had my first visit with Shawn and he gave me some exercised to align my hips and strengthen as well. Within a few days, I ran 3 miles without pain. I had 2 follow up visits with Greg, wherein he made sure I was staying “even” in my hips/legs, and gave me additional exercises to do daily. Within 4 weeks, I’m now up to almost 9 miles on a long run, and 25 miles per week – without pain! I was a true skeptic, and even after my first visit I was convinced I still had a more significant issue and it would require surgery. I feel like the PT with PDX Bodyworks has been a miracle for me! I so highly appreciate working with Shawn and Greg because they are athletes and fully appreciated my situation and commitment to run!

When I came into Shawn’s office I had consistent back pain and was restricted in my activities. I came in a few months after back surgery and was fearful I would never be able to get back to my normal every day life and active lifestyle. Shawn and Greg were helpful, encouraging, and walked me through each step of the healing process. After completing 2 months of PT I am feeling like myself again. Before PT I was restricted by back pain and couldn’t run, walk up stairs without pain, or comfortably tie my shoes. Now I am running 2-4 times per week, hiking, stairs don’t bother me, and I don’t think twice about tying my shoes. I am so thankful to be back in my normal lifestyle again!

I had a great experience. I learned ways to help build my endurance to physical activities after injuries, as well as exercises for pain management. Shawn was very welcoming and my 4-year-old always had a blast tagging along during appointments.

The history of PDX Bodyworks PT is one where two practitioners shared similar experiences whereby the traditional PT approach of stretching and strengthening exercise were very limited in providing long term relief.  This provided the drive to seek out something more effective.  Through extensive post graduate training in manual therapy they began seeing profound changes in their patients outcomes, which led them to becoming sought out practitioners not just for acute injuries, but especially chronic ones.  They began seeing significantly positive outcomes in patients who had gone months [or years] with low back pain, a limp or limited ability to function in life, sports, or on-the-job; many that had never heard of Physical Therapy or seen a manual physical therapist!  Often, these folks had outright poor experiences in the health care system that never resolved their problem.  People that were told awful things by healthcare providers like “you shouldn’t be in pain”, “there’s nothing wrong with you”, “you just need to lose weight”, “it’s all in your head”, “you're just trying to take advantage of the system”, “you must not want to get better”, “you’re just seeking more pain medication”, and the list goes on.  It became clear that we needed a more direct way to connect with people who wanted to get well, but just did not get the right help along their way.  Our practice was born!

Pain or injury of your muscles, bones or nerves [your musculoskeletal system] - is the specific treatment expertise of physical therapists.  Our combined experience of nearly 30 years has shown that manual therapy treatments, along with properly dosed movement and exercise, get people feeling better and back to their normal life, it not the life they’ve always wanted to live.  We arm people with knowledge and an ongoing plan to stay active and keep up with their busy lives.  We strive for a practice that connects people with quality manual Physical Therapy early in their search for pain relief, knowledge, and notable improvement in their lives.

Just this past weekend Shawn & Greg took 2 of their children and joined a mission trip to build a house in Juarez, Mexico for a family living in poverty.  This trip made a tremendous impression on all of us and we are looking forward to doing it again next year.

Find a manual therapist with experience that can provide 1 on 1 hands on care for you, lasting at least 30-60 minutes each visit, whom you can expect to see consistently.  Ask if they routinely perform a grade 5 mobilization, which sets them apart in their post-graduate training.

How serious are you about getting well?  If it's an old condition, what are you willing to do to get it fixed?  Are you willing to make the commitment to coming in to PT regularly, performing the home exercises consistently, and if you don't have insurance, are you willing to make the financial investment in your health and wellness?  All things considered, physical therapy is significantly less expensive then long term co-pays for medication, lost time from work, or worst case scenario surgery if you let it go on for too long.
