About
I think of myself as a compassionate, patient and non-judgmental counselor and I strongly encourage my clients to think of themselves and their issues in the same way. I look at counseling as a collaboration and an opportunity to facilitate a growth experience and a transformation in how one feels and thinks about oneself as well as release what no longer is serving oneself.
I think how I stand out is my experience both in my extent of training in trauma modalities and years of working with people both in a clincial setting and prior years in community settings with a large range of people, as well and most importantly in my own healing which gave me a solid intuitive understanding of the path of the "healing journey" and my ability to facilitate that. Part of the healing journey is to learn to eventually tap into and trust your own inner wisdom.
Another way I am impactful is the depth of my knowledge in applying body/mind approach with clients. For issues around anxiety for example I not only introduce a conventional cognitive-behaviorial approach but introduce mindfulness and stress the importance of present-centered awareness and mindfulness practice to diminish anxiety and depression. As well I encourage looking at underlying belief systems as collections of thoughts well practiced and their entrenched influence on how we create our reality and can therefore create a much more loving, compassionate, positive reality.
I enjoy being able to facilitate an impactful change or growth with someone that changes how they experience themselves within and in the world. I especially find immense satisfaction in seeing their efforts paying off and their lives become happier and more peaceful. This comes about from helping them facilitate greater self-awareness but allowing to becoming aware of and changing your negative core beliefs and negative thoughts which are creating your present reality and becoming more aware of where we are putting our focus moment to moment.
I have worked for over twenty five years as a counselor in varioius settings and have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health and an independent Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor(LPCC) and well as graduate work in related fields. I have also had professional training from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and am certified as a clincial hypnotherapist(CCHt) and EMDT-trained, both useful for trauma re-processing and re-framing negative beliefs embedded in early childhood experiences.
