About this pro

In a private practice with a small caseload, quality, in-depth individual therapy can be given. With experience in both an agency and private practice, I have treated clients with many different disorders and concerns.
As a former teacher, I incorporate mental health education into therapy because I think knowledge is power.
I have many mental health connections in the community and nearby cities, to be offered as supplemental resources to clients, to ensure all of their needs are being met.
My passion is working with adult survivors of abuse. I also specialize in treating trauma and am currently pursuing my PhD in crisis and trauma therapy.
You can find me on Psychology Today as well as my website:

It is my calling to help others. I love empowering people and watching them make changes that bring them peace and happiness.

Julie guided me through a horrible time in my life. She went above and beyond for me through every step of my recovery. She even took extra steps between sessions to let me know she was there for me. She doesn't treat you like your just another client. She treats you like your her one and only client. She always has new ideas for for me to work on to keep me going. Thank you Julie.

Julie helped me in my darkest days. I always told everyone that God, Julie and 2 friends got me thru that time. She was flexible with my work schedule and understanding of my crazy life. She challenges you, she helps you process what is happening and validates how you're feeling. I highly recommend her if you need counseling.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

There's a brief phone screening process to see if counseling is a viable option. If it is, an intake session is scheduled. This first appointment is about 90 minutes long and is a thorough information gathering meeting. After this, recommendations are given and a plan is made regarding counseling.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Bachelor's degree in education-Bowling Green State University

Master's degree in counseling-Wake Forest University

Doctorate in progress-Regent University

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with clients in both a private practice and an agency setting. I've treated clients with a wide range of disorders from anxiety and depression to schizophrenia and bipolar. My area of specialty is treating trauma and anxiety.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

The counseling relationship is key to healing. It is imperative to find a counselor with whom you are comfortable and feel supported and challenged.
