Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After scheduling the initil appointment, I like to send out a brief questionaire to get information on what are the preferences of my new clients. I don't just want to know what their goals and objectives are but I really want to get to know them and create a safe space for them to recieve the help they desire.

I am a licensed clinical addiction specialist with over 20 years of experience. I also hold a masters degree in social work. Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I had a patient who was hearing impaired and hospitalized without batteries for her cochlear implants. After calling around to several local providers, I finally found an office willing to bring chargers for the patients implants. She thanked me but also informed me she has been reading lips since she was 3 yrs old. The patient shared with other staff on the unit how she felt my kindness was genuine even though I had no idea she was reading my lips and saw me advocating for her.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would tell them to consider the professionals compassion for providing the services. It is evident we all need to make a living but I would also encourage them to consider the price. Higher cost does not always equate to quality services. Some fees may be set for specific services. Finally, I would say to have questions ready to ask and do an actual interview of the professional to see if it will be a good fit. Sometimes professional present well on paper but until you meet with them and have some interaction it is almost impossible to get a good idea.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
The most impartant question I would say would be: How much are you willing to put into this service (therapy). In most cases, a therapist can only be as good as the client who is willing to do the work.
Second, I would want to ask the risk and benefits of engaging in this service. Each client needs to know this because there are always risk and benefits.
