About

I provide faith based counseling and life coaching services for WOMEN and COUPLES ages 21 and over. I meet clients where they are and help them get to where they want to go. I’ve worked in public mental health for over 20 years and strive to help people live their best lives possible. I believe the language we use regarding mental wellness and recovery are key in the journey to wholeness.

I enjoy helping women reclaim their dreams and fulfill their purpose in life. I want to help them recognize that having a diagnosis or past trauma doesn’t have to be a death sentence. I also enjoy seeing couples improve their communication and go on to have healthier and more fulfillung relationships. My goal is to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health challenges and help women and couples become the heroes in their own stories.

    Frequently asked questions

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, REBT, and Scripture as my foundation. I’m an experiential counselor, meaning I have lived experience with many life challenges and can “walk the walk and talk the talk” which many clients find comforting and validating. I've been a NC Certified Peer Support Specialist for over 10 years and believe in the power of shared stories.

I've been married over 35 years and believe any marriage can be a rewarding adventure if both partners commit to doing the work. I create a judgment-free zone where people can be their authentic selves and find solutions for their most challenging issues.

I have a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Christian counseling, and a North Carolina Peer Support Specialist certification from UNC-Chapel Hill. I worked in public mental health as the Director of Programs for a local nonprofit and have been in private practice for four years now. I believe that recovery is possible for everyone and I allow people to decide for themselves what progress looks like and how they will determine success. My clients are always in charge of the number and scheduling of their sessions. This is their journey and I want them to feel empowered.

This is a private pay practice. I charge $55 an hour for individuals and $80 for couples. Each session lasts 55 minutes.

I studied counseling years ago but it wasn’t until a loved one experienced a severe mental health challenge that I went back to school and found my passion. I believe that recovery is possible for everyone. I think that, if we're honest, we all struggle with something and the more transparent we can be about “our stuff”, the healthier we’ll all be. My goal is to empower people to discard their masks and live authentically and intentionally. I want help them discover what they can do as opposed to defining themselves by labels and limitations.

I have worked with individuals living with past trauma and life controlling issues such as substance abuse and/or mental health challenges. While I am a faith-based counselor, people do not have to be involved in a religious practice to benefit from the services that I provide. I have worked with individuals quesioning their gender identity, practicing Wiccans, and Atheists. Challenges don’t discriminate and neither do I.

You might be a woman in transition, dealing with relationship stress or setting healthy boundaries. You may be feeling weary after years of sacrificing and putting everyone else first and beginning to wonder when you get to matter. Sometimes, you feel invisible and unappreciated, as if you've lost yourself and are wandering through life completely alone. You wonder, "Is this all there is?" Maybe you're contemplating marriage, or considering couples counseling and want some Godly wisdom. What you really want is a judgment-free zone, where you can speak your truth  and be heard. I can provide that space and hold the hope for you as you begin your journey to wholeness.

I've led support groups for family members of loved ones struggling with mental health challenges so they can better understand how to support without enabling. I’ve also worked with women processing domestic violence and past childhood or sexual trauma. Many have been able to release the shame and guilt they had carried for years and go on to have healthy and fulfilling relationships. Some of my most satisfying work has been working wth couples preparing for marriage and or those desiring a better relationship who are ready to evaluate what works and what doesn't.

While money can be an issue, when seeking help, look for someone you connect with who will allow you to be an active participant in your journey and hold you accountable for authentiity and reaching the goals you set. I never insist on a certain number of sessions or frequency. If someone has found traditional therapy to be a cold and clinical experience, my practice would be a breath of fresh air.

I think the most important question to ask yourself is, “Are are you ready for a change and to do the work required to make it happen?” Lots of times we talk about wanting things to be different but we’re not ready to do anything to make them different. Change is possible but it does require work. If you continue to do what you've always done, you'll always get the same results.
