About

My approach to counseling is very person centered and relational in nature. My goal is to understand the problem or issue(s) that you are facing and through the process to develop a therapeutic relationship with you that allows for honest and open communication with empathy and compassion. I think you will find me to be quite personable and easy to talk to.

Walking through the process with someone and seeing a person transition over time from fear, depression, despair to peace, hope, and confidence.

Frequently asked questions

The first session is just getting to know a person, getting a sense of the matter(s) the person wants to address in their life, and a cursory history.  I don't focus on delving into childhood history, but more about the problem(s) of now, today, and exploring how those problem(s) could be addressed in a healthy fashion.

I have just a few forms: Informed consent, HIPAA acknowledgement, and 2 brief screenings - anxiety and depression.

If you are not comfortable meeting at your home, I can also meet in the community, which does decrease your privacy.

I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling at Lindenwood University in 2005 and acquired my license (LPC) in June, 2008.  I began working in the mental health/social service field in 2003, and have continuously worked in this field in a clinical role.

My fee is $75 per 50 minute session.

I accept Optum/United Healthcare, Anthem/BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, and am happy to request a single case agreement with any other health insurance company.

I accept cash, checks, and Zelle for copays or for private pay without insurance.

I cut my teeth in community mental health at the Jane Crider Center, which has since merged with Compass Health.  I worked with individuals with severe, persistent mental illness such as Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective disorder, Major depressive disorder, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders
