Counselors Associates, LTD
About
Trust me when I say I completely understand that you have so many options out there when it comes to finding the right person for your mental health. It can almost be overwhelming in a sense of knowing who the right person is and if you are going to get what you need from that individual.
With me, my clients feel comfortable enough to truly be themselves by being ok to talk about anything. I am a very understanding, empathetic and passionate person with a drive to do everything I can for my client. I go out of my way to make sure my client has the best resources and knowledge in order to obtain their goals. My clients are never working alone. I am there the entire time. My client's aren't just a session to me. I often think about them outside of sessions, constantly thriving and finding ways to improve their counseling experience while helping them get the most out of life.
Since I could remember I have always had a passion for helping others. It has always been something that has brought me joy and gave me a sense of purpose. With counseling I am able to do just that. It isn't about giving advice, but giving someone that judgement free space to be themselves and explore what is going on. I provide my clients with the atmosphere they need to explore and find solutions to their problems while working with them to obtain their goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new client, I first like to introduce myself a little to make it a little less intimidating talking to me about personal things. I can certainly understand the intimidation or challenges that come with asking someone for counseling services and I try to make that experience as comfortable as possible. I don't hand you a whole bunch of forms and ask you to bring them in with you. I like to do this paperwork with my client so they can get a sense of who I am and ask me any questions that may come up. To me, it is always about making the client feel as comfortable as possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Missouri - St. Louis in May of 2020.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My sessions start out at $60 a session, however I offer a sliding scale fee for clients in need. Ask me for more information.
How did you get started in this business?
Years ago I got my undergraduate degree in a completely unrelated field. Once I graduated I got my first professional job and realized I was missing that passion. This is when I realized that I always had a passion of helping others and am a very empathetic person. These qualities go hand and hand with counseling. That and I too have had the struggles of navigating the mental health road. This is when I realized how little resources there are for individuals who don't know that they are dealing with depression. Having experieced this, I hope to further bridge that gap by expanding that knowledge a little at a time. I figured what better way to do that than by providing mental health counseling services to those in need!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with an adolescent, individuals and a family ranging in ages varying from multicultural backgrounds. I have experience working with varying presenting issues ranging from depression, anxiety, life transitions, work stress, relationship issues and family issues.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Based on my personal history of depression and being a survivor of suicide loss, I would have to say the Out of the Darkness Walk resonnates a special place in my heart. When I moved to the St. Louis area almost 4 years ago, their numbers were close to 1,000 participants. Last year they had almost 5,000 participants. I think this just shows the amount of people impacted by depression and suicide and how important mental health is.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
While years of experience can certainly play a role into the amount of care and expertise given to you, it is also important that you have a good, comfortable relationship with the counselor of your choice. One therapist/counselor is not made for every single person and that's ok. You just have to find the person that matches with your personality/style that makes you feel comfortable enough to open up. All the years of experience will do nothing for you if the counselor you are seeing is cold and rigid towards you.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Ask yourself what you are looking for and the things you are not willing to settle on. For mental health care you should ask yourself what's most important in relation to your progress. Is it feeling comfortable with a counselor? Or is it the amount of progress you make? What about location and flexibility of schedules? These are all things you should have in mind when finding the right person to meet your needs.
