It has been a little over a year since I started my job in real estate investing after transitioning from software consulting and I cant tell you how happy I am. The work is challenging, I like the people I work with and I am learning all the time. This is the first time in my life when I am genuinely excited to go to work (most days), and I dont have the Sunday scaries anymore.

Lisa is an exceptionally talented, natural coach. She was invaluable as I prepared for job interviews and helped me find the language to describe my skills, strengths, and goals that landed me in the management position of my dreams! Lisa leverages her two decades of executive management leadership to guide our work. Lisa’s background leading multi-functional teams in the bet-the-company level assignments coupled with her listening skills immediately put me at ease and I felt heard and understood. Lisa is both a strategist and cheerleader who assisted me to repackage my experience and, sometimes confusing, thoughts in a way that adds meaningful direction. Her expertise in how teams work provided me with the tools to create powerful trusting work relationships in my first few days as a new manager. For example, she helped me draft a list of questions and prepared me to really listen to the responses. Lisa’s coaching was instrumental as I interacted with my staff for the first time. Lisa’s business acumen coupled with her sincere and passionate desire to help her clients reach and surpass their goals makes Lisa truly a one-of-a kind coach!

Jill particularly helped me to validate my interest areas, refine my networking strategy, and negotiate my compensation. She combines personal warmth with solid professionalism. She listens carefully and draws out your thinking - helping develop specific plans and next steps that she then follows up on.

Ive grown a lot during this experience and this will help me be better for the next one (hopefully not for a few years!). Here is what I learned:

Know my criteria and stick to it. Have the courage to say no

Follow my gut - it tends to be right, especially about people

Remember that this process was fun - I learned about new companies, met many awesome people and have a much stronger network now because of it

Force yourself to do a network search - people are willing to create roles

Know that I am valuable enough to get what I want. There is no need to compromise

Throughout my career, I felt my work to spoke for itself and my results continually generated recognition and opportunities for additional responsibility and career growth. That approach, while successful for me in the past, was not separating me from the competition at my current level. I sought out a coach to teach me new strategies to differentiate myself from the elite candidates I am currently competing with for the next position. Jill understood from day one what I needed to do to achieve my goals. She worked with me on my personal branding and, along with providing new tools, she challenged me to use those new tools and tactics to create and market my personal brand message. Our time spent on the phone was maximized through discussion points that we agreed on ahead of time, which made every call impactful. Jills own experience in advancing her career was insightful and relevant to my needs and situation. As a result of working with Jill, I have been successful in marketing myself in new ways.
