About

"The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are at."

Congratulations on taking the first step! My name is Jason and I am a local counselor with offices in Noblesville and Fishers. I also provide online teletherapy to clients anywhere within the State of Indiana. I am licensed in both mental health and addictions counseling and see clients for both individual and couples therapy. I’m passionate about finding innovative ways to help my clients recover from life’s daily challenges including anxiety, depression, addiction, anger, chronic relapse, poor communication, low self-esteem, problematic sexual behaviors, and grief and loss.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship forms the basis of all interactions between the counselor and client. I approach clients with empathy and good humor as a fellow human who is humbled by and respectful of those who choose to share their lives with me. My belief is that the counseling relationship should be collaborative and individualized.

Contact me today so we can discuss your concerns and goals for counseling. During our first session, I will complete a detailed assessment and provide you with recommendations for treatment, incorporating your goals into a comprehensive treatment plan.

"You don't have to see the whole staircase to take the first step."

I am passionate about helping every client who honors me by sharing some of the most intimate details of their lives with me through the counseling process. Some of the most rewarding work I do is with couples. All couples face times when communication with their partner is frustrating, overwhelming, or upsetting. Couples often describe getting stuck in fights they did not plan to have. Once the disagreement is going, it is a challenge to slow it down, much less hear each other’s perspective. I'm frequently asked to help couples restore trust following infidelity, teach healthier ways of communicating- and yes, even arguing, and rekindle passion and intimacy by shaping the relationship into a more secure loving bond.

    Frequently asked questions

Appointments can be scheduled by phone or by going directly to the secure Client Portal at https://jason.clientsecure.me

To schedule by telephone, I will need an email address and a telephone number.  Once the appointment is scheduled, you will receive an email with information on how to access the Client Portal.

Once inside the Client Portal, you will find a number of documents for you to review and electronically sign.  There is also a short questionnaire that needs to be completed prior to our first session.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a Master's of Science in Addiction Counseling from Capella University.

I am licensed by the State of Indiana as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor Associate, and an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist. I am certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional by the International Association for Trauma Professionals and am trained in the use of EMDR for the treatment of trauma, anxiety, and related conditions.

My clinical work involves providing counseling to clients with:  anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, addiction, anger, chronic relapse, poor communication, low self-esteem, LGBTQ concerns, problematic sexual behaviors, grief and loss, healing after an affair, restoring trust, increasing intimacy, and navigating the complexities of marriage and parenthood.

Have a list of qualifications and qualities that you are looking for in a potential counselor. I do not recommend making a selection based on price only, although I know it tends to be a consideration for many.  Be wary of counselors offering prices that are significantly lower than their competitors. Ask yourself, why do they need to have such low rates to secure clients?  Look for counselors who have licenses in more than one specialty area and are certified or credentialed in certain areas. This indicates special training and expertise as well as most certifications require you to prove ongoing continuing education.  For example, I am licensed in addiction counseling and mental health counseling, and I am certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional.  Finally, consider trying online counseling, or Teletherapy.  This can be a great option for clients who may have difficult schedules or who live far from a counselor who they identify to be a good fit.  The Counseling Center is happy to offer Teletherapy for our clients.

What are my goals for counseling?

How motivated am I for change?

In terms of change, what am I willing to do?  What am I not willing to do?

What have I done to address this problem in the past?  What has been successful?  What didn't work?
