About

Finding Our Strength Telehealth Counseling Services for Women.

My name is Denise Davis, Owner and Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I am committed to helping women learn how to build a healthy relationship with self. Our work together will focus on identifying destructive thought patterns & behaviors developed as part of a self preservation technique due to past or present trauma, depression, anxiety and more. I believe in using a variety of theoretic approaches, which will help you identify triggers, learn new coping skills and identify goals that are specific, attainable, and will help you find your strength!!

***If you would like more information about me or Finding Our Strength, please feel free to go to my website: www.FindingOurStrength.com ***

I will meet you exactly where you are when you come in for your first session. I will listen and learn about you, build rapport and trust because Therapy is very personal! I want to get to know you, individually, because every person is unique. I want you to leave that first session knowing that I care about you!

I enjoy helping people work through the challenges they face in life. I love to see my clients grow when they push themselves outside their comfort zone! Clients experience success and their self-esteem increases and they begin to realize they have what it takes to make their lives anything they want! Finally, I love to see a client's face when they realize just how strong they really are, and that it was inside them all along!

Denise really takes in everything Im saying and processes it very well so she can find ways to make me understand what Im feeling or how to handle my thoughts, feelings, reactions. Shes supportive, but real. She doesnt just provide her thoughts, she constructively has you work on areas she feels you need to acknowledge by sending exercises for you to complete. I have really enjoyed our thoughts and her way of thinking, she has helped me so far a great deal.

Denise saved me at the lowest point in my life. I was deep in the throes of depression and anxiety over a family issue and she coached me through it with kindness, understanding and real life strategies to help me cope. I am stronger emotionally now and have learned a lot about myself as well as healthier ways to deal with certain situations. I highly recommend her for anyone who needs counseling of any kind. She was unbelievably responsive. Being able to express myself in real time via the portal and getting almost immediate feedback was the key to my recovery. I am forever in her debt for giving me coping skills that will apply to other situations the rest of my life. If I could afford it, I would stay with her just to maintain where I currently am. In the event of another crisis, I will most certainly try to find a way to once again pay for a subscription and enlist her help.

Denise has been very helpful at helping me dig deeper into my anxiety issues and blocks and triggers for emotional outbursts. I would highly recommend her to someone suffering from anxiety, boundary issues, depression, self-sabotaging blocks and plenty of other areas

Well if she can get me to open up and talk she has got to be doing something right. Only regret that I waited as long as I did, lost a lot of happiness, sleep, time, and sanity trying things my way.

Denise has been a good first counseling experience for me. She has helped me and my wife work through areas of concern, see things more clearly, and has been a great help by simply listening in an inviting, non-judgmental way. We would certainly recommend her as weve enjoyed and benefited from our time together.

    Frequently asked questions

The first session will be about the client discussing what has brought them to seek counseling. I meet the client exactly where they are and I ask questions to get to know them better and then I sit back and listen! I use Cognitive BehavioralTherapy the most, but I would consider myself ecclectic, using bits and pieces from various therapy approaches.

I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a mental health counselor. One of my biggest strengths is being a great listener! In this field, if you want to be successful, you have to listen to the client. You also have to pay attention to their body language and facial expressions because sometimes our words and body language don't match. In this case, the saying "actions speak louder than words" is truly in play!

I have worked with a variety of clients from all walks of life. I have always worked with adults ages  18-80! I have worked with both men and women from various socio-economic backgrounds, racial backgrounds, religious backgrounds. I have worked with people with serious mental health issues like schizophrenia and bi-polar. I have also worked with people struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship issues, substance abuse issues and the like. I have worked in Community Mental Health facilities and I have also worked in Correctional Facilities counseling incarcerated men with serious mental health issues and sexual offenders.

Seeking counseling services Is not always easy! But, it can have a positive impact on the mind, body and soul! In order for this to happen, it is important that the counselor you choose is someone you feel comfortable with and that you trust! This can take some time, however, typically after the first or second session you will know if you and the counselor are a good fit. Don't be afraid to look for a different counselor because having the right person is very important to the process.

Am I ready to put in the work that counseling demands?

Do I have support outside of counseling in case I'm having a bad day? (Not mandatory, but helpful)

Do I know what I hope to gain by seeking counseling? (Not mandatory, therapist can help with this if needed)
