Frequently asked questions

I have an initial consultation to see if we are a good fit. If we are then we discuss the fee and make a plan for moving forward.

I hold a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, a PhD (ABD) in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and have completed a residency in analytic therapy and trauma.

I have a set fee that all patients agree to. While I don’t accept insurance I do provide all the necessary information to apply for out of network coverage. If you have an HSA you can use those funds to pay for treatment. Most of my patients receive some kind of reimbursement from their insurance.

I got started in private practice because I did a private practice internship and Residency so I have extensive experience in working this way. Working privately means I have the greatest freedom to customize treatment to each unique person.

While I have a wide range of experience I specialize in working with depression/anxiety, trauma and PTSD, dissociative disorders and psychosis. I also specialize in working with members of the LGBTQ community and those in nonmonagamous relationships.

I recent gave a seminar on gender and power in psychoanalysis. It was a great experience! I learned so much and we had such a great learning experience. It reminded me of why I love training other therapists; we all leave with a stronger skills set and greater compassion.

I believe that finding a good fit is the most important thing in seeking out professional help. If the fit is good you can work through anything. As an aalytic therapist I am constantly in training, always striving to become the best I can be. I think this is important for a therapist to do. So ask about their training!

I really appreciate how hard it can be to start treatment so when a patient first starts I expect it to feel weird. So I think if you show up and simply start with whatever is on your mind that’s the best thing you can do. It’s the therapist’s job to help you ask questions and think.
