Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With couples, the first session is with the couple together, next we have an individual session with each partner. The third session we meet as couples. If someone is wanting extra support through the process, we can refer within or outside of the practice. The couple's therapist does not do individual therapy with one of the partners.
Individual therapy begins with a thorough history and proceeds from there. If clients would like a repeating time slot, we can provide that. We are in network with BCBS PPO and United/Optum.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists require extensive couple's work before licensing. Our Couple's therapist completed a Practicum at The Family Institute. Continuing education with Gottman Training, Emotionally Focused therapy, Relational Life Institute, as well as indiviually focused training in CBT, DBT, ACT.
All therapists are trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
