About
I've been practicing for a little over 14 years. I love this work; love connecting with clients and seeing people come home to themselves and experience increasing well-being. I try very hard to be congruent - I do my best to live the way I encourage others to live. I think my deep sense of purpose and calling to this work come through & communicate genuine care for people.
I love watching people come through struggle with greater love & compassion for themselves and for others; feeling more free to engage life & be more fully themselves.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I love to connect on the phone for a few minutes to schedule an appointment, answer any questions & give clients an idea of how the first few appointments typically go. Counseling is about finding a great fit - someone you feel comfortable talking to & understood by. I encourage clients to ask any questions they have & see if this feels like a good fit - which I'm hoping it does! I typically see people once a week, every other week, or once a month for 50 minute sessions, depending on what they're needing or wanting. Therapy typically lasts 6 months to a year, again depending on the situation/needs/wants/reasons for coming to therapy.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an MA in Counseling & am licensed in 3 states. I've been practicing for over 11 years. My experience includes community mental health, the Portland DBT Institute, & currently going on my 6th year in private practice. I've been intensively trained in DBT (a therapy originally designed for people with intensely painful emotional lives; often struggling with suicidal thinking or self-harm) & am currently pursuing expertise in Interpersonal Neurobiology (the science of connection & well-being) & the Polyvagal Theory. I work with individuals ages 13 and up.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Cost per session is a range from $125-$140.
I am not in network with insurances. I can provide a superbill for clients to submit to their insurance company if they have out of network benefits. In this case, the client pays at the time of service; I give them a superbill; they submit to insurance; insurance reimburses the client a percentage of the session cost.
How did you get started in this business?
Right out of college, I volunteered at a homeless shelter for a year. I wondered how humans wound up there and whether it was possible to heal from all they'd been through to be able to thrive and live a stable, happy, connected life. I spent the years after that searching for answers & worked with a lot of different populations. I came to believe my calling/purpose is helping others to be their best selves/rise to their full potential. My journey lead to grad school and getting my master's in counseling to learn how to do this well. I love this work, my relationships with my clients, & continuing to grow & learn about how we all move towards increasing well-being.
What types of customers have you worked with?
People from all kinds of backgrounds including various economic backgrounds from poverty to doing quite well; teens, young adults, adults; various spiritual, cultural, and racial backgrounds; people struggling with wanting to live at all, to people with less severe struggles. No matter where we come from or what our struggles, it seems clear all of us need a sense of worth, meaning & belonging.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My family & I recently moved here from Washington State. We went to a pumpkin festival here with all kinds of things for kids & families to do. It was a beautiful evening and so many people having such a great time. It was a lovely welcome to Idaho.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Find someone you feel comfortable with - even if that means trying a few different counselors. You should know in the first 1-3 appointments whether you feel comfortable talking to this person. Ask questions. Your questions matter & are welcome.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Anything that's going to help them feel more comfortable - asking about the counselor's experience, training, approach, etc.
