About
What makes it stand out is the context of safety and the promotion of intentional dialogue where individuals come to better understand their communication styles to move relationships from disruption to connection.
I am a Certified Advanced Clinician as an Imago Relationship Therapist having been trained by Harville Hendrix, who teaches that "conflict is growth trying to happen." He is the the author of the book "Getting The Love You Want" and several others co-authored with his wife Helen Hunt. I witness the Imago method in action through helping dozens of individuals with intentional dialogue to take responsibility for safety, clarity, empathy and understanding in relationships. This empowers parents and families, teachers, and organizations with the tools to work effectively together to realize mutual goals. It is exciting to witness how habitual defensiveness surrenders to moments of truth, and one's sense of presence is actualized.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with an agreed on fee the first time as a consult to assess treatment needs and determine a course of action: to begin working together or for referral out as needed. We create goals and a treatment plan for periodic review toward completion. This is especially important to artist clients who are facing blocks and need to strengthen their ability to move through blocks to their creativity.

How did you get started in this business?
When I was a teacher in the public schools, limited counseling opportunities were available to students. And, in the creative arts, I and other professionals struggled sometimes with creative blocks. Treatment methods successfully dealt with this, so I had examples of remedies for organizational systemic needs and personal courses of treatment. This led to receiving an NIMH grant to pursue university clinical social work studies.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My education led me to seek work in children's residential treatment, hospital psych unit, home health services, and private practice settings. I have worked with diverse populations of all age ranges from age three to the quite elderly. I am a Medicare provider and especially enjoy working with the elderly population in meeting the challenges of their transitions.
