About

Deep Roots Therapy is the private practice of Philip Harms, MA, LPC. I specialize in couples therapy, stress management, and getting to the roots of issues that cause the symptoms in my clients’ lives. Each client’s life challenges are unique to the individual, and as a result, I tailor my clinical approach to fit the expressed needs of each client. I have at my disposal several approaches, including Emotionally Focused couples Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral and Dialiectic Behavioral Therapies, as well as faith-based approaches (*Christian).

I always strive to provide the most effective and empirically proven approaches to counseling, and work collaboratively with a client in determining their treatment goals and tracking progress based on their feedback.

I enjoy empowering my clients to resolve the causes of their issues, and when my clients overcome these obstacles, I rejoice with them and celebrate their victories.

Frequently asked questions

An initial session will include 1. Thorough evaluation of client needs and goals, including any current symptoms and/or diagnoses, 2. Discussion of the psychosocial stressors and what has been tried and what has not worked, 3. Practical application of skills and behavioral changes that could impact the presenting problem(s). 4. Follow-up and maintentance (I desire to help clients achieve their goals safely, quickly, and with long-term effects, and then check in as needed after these goals are completed).

I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon in Family & Human Services (an equivalent to today's BA in social work), and worked heavily in child & adolescent in-patient residential settings following this degree.

I further studied at Denver Seminary, attaining the level of MA in Counseling, and primarily focusing with individual adults and couples counseling.

I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, focusing on attachment and root causes for current behaviors and interpersonal challenges.

My out of pocket fee for service is $100 per 50-minute session. However, I do accept Cigna and United Healthcare plans, and will bill directly for clients. I also provide Superbills for clients who utilize me as an out of network provider for reimbursement purposes.

I also have begun offering a "subscription" for clients who opt-in. There is a flat monthly fee of $200 due at the beginning of each month, and clients have up to 4, 40-minute telehealth sessions per month without any penalty for cancellations. Some have found this to be a helpful alternative to the classic pricing structure.
