About

I'm excited to share with you a little about myself. As Colorado Native, I have found serenity being surrounded by the beautiful mountains and tall pine trees that seem to scrape the endless blue skies here. I may never be able to get enough of that nastalgic experience and continue to find respite in nature. To this day, I admittedly get excited every single time I see a deer, and hope that never stops. There is something just magical about Colorado.

I began working as a counselor back in the early 2000's after receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Human Services, emphasis in Mental Health and Counseling. I spent a few years as an advocate for women and children at a local safe house, counseling survivors of domestic violence. I moved into work as a residential treatment counselor for a facility that cared for children ages 5-17. There I became very familiar with the heartache abuse and mental illness can cause in a family. When I had children of my own, I took a break to be home with them and reignited my passion as an artist working on projects in downtown Denver such as "Keys to the City" and fundraisers for UNICEF. I enjoy painting landscapes on canvas, pianos, and basically anything I can get my hands on that simply needs a splash of color. Artful expression remains one of my favorite activites and I love to sneak it into therapy.

Excited to get back to the field, I returned to Regis University to obtain my Master of Arts in Clincial Counseling and Mental Health to work towards being a Licensed Professional Counselor and open up to more in depth therapeutic work. During that time, I served as President of the Honor Society, Chi Sigma Iota, and developed an extensive drive for educational workshops and trainings. Although I hold a passion for research and understanding the many ways trauma can affect our mind, body, emotions, and spirit, I am convinced that it is in relationship that true healing is amplified. Studying the brain and how the impacts of trauma can be physically changed the connection and the functionality, I found evidenced based research supporting the benefits of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitizaiton and Reprocessing). Finding new and exciting complimentary modalities such as Brainspotting. Somatic Work, Play Therapy, Expressive Art Therapy, Sandtray, EFT and others, I recognized a deeper healing is available when words simply are not enough. I come from a person centered/existential lens, where I view us on a journey together. You are the expert on your own life and my role is to support and guide you in self discovery and empowering you to grow.

Eventhough I have had some meaningful experiences in other areas of Colorado, staying close to home in Castle Rock was the determining factor for me to open a private practice. I had some valuable experiences leading up to this decision. Gypsy Wind Ranch in Monument was an amazing equine facility where I was able to participate in as a practitioner in a teen group. I was touched at how intuitive and healing animals can be. My expectations were also exceeded when I encountered the depth of healing work at People House Denver. Practicing mental health counseling in their Affordable Counseling Program was incredibly rewarding. I am so impressed with the stories of resilliency I have heard and witnessed. Finding a newfound love of "tiny miracles" was a memorable gain there. The capacity to shift our belief systems to rediscover our worthiness and strengths really is within our grasp.

Aside from being a counselor, I am a wife and mother of four amazing children who attend school in Castle Rock. As a seasoned mother, I have humbly learned a great deal from rasing children, and am grateful to be able to integrate that lived experience into my practice. I have been fascinated with psychology for as long as I can remember and this is a vibrant passion for me. I am so grateful to be in alignment with my lifelong dream to be a counselor.

I offer 50 minute sessions where I offer uplifting and non judgemental support for clients in a confidential setting.  The more vulnerable you are, the more you will get from therapy, so I encourage an authentic approach.  I'm hear to listen, support and help clients to self actualization, rather than telling them what to do.
