Dr. David Gersten
About
I practice Integrative Psychiatry, which includes Conventional and Alternative approaches. I work with medications as well as natural alternatives. I specialize in Amino Acid Therapy. Every neurotransmitter except for one is made from amino acids. Protein is 100% amino acids, and half of hormones are made of amino acids. I gather information about every aspect of your life with the intention that you will feel safe sharing "anything." My goal is to provide an accepting, nonjudgmental environment in which you feel you are "not simply a diagnosis." I want you to feel heard and understood. The first session, in particular, is about establishing connection. With connection comes hope. With hope people are motivated to engage in the healing process.
I love Healing work. I've been in practice since 1978 and each person I work with is new, interesting, challenging. A lot of people with very complex issues, and complex lives, come to me. I like working with complexity and breaking things down so that people understand their challenge, symptom, illness, or goal in simple terms. I like helping people move from suffering and confusion, and endless battles with their problem, to a more positive outlook, new ideas, and new strategies. This work has everything to do with the doctor-patient relationship.
