About

My name is Lacey Palmer and I am a certified Chemical Dependency Specialist (CDS) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #111662), however don’t let the license misguide you as I am trained and qualified to work with children, adolescents, teens, and adults on an individual basis as well. My wesbite has more information! www.LaceyLynn.com or

My academic experience began in 2010 when I started my Bachelors degree program with a major in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. After graduating in 2012 I moved to the Los Angeles area to obtain my certificate as a Chemical Dependency Specialist. After graduating from that program in 2014 I transitioned to graduate school to pursue my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Mindfulness and Psychotherapy.

My professional experience in the field began in 2011 while obtaining my Criminal Justice minor, I volunteered as president for the Operation U-Turn campus club which assisted incarcerated individuals throughout the California prison system to gain access to books, school curriculum, and assistance for transitioning back into society. The following years included professional experience working in various residential treatment facilities for both adolescents and adults in a range of roles from floor staff, life coach, and primary therapist. I also have experience working with school-based mental health programs, which include navigating IEP’s, Medi-Cal billing, and special education services.

Licensed Therapeutic Services:

My primary therapeutic modality is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which has been empirically proven to help individuals struggling with self-harm, suicidal ideation, intense mood fluctuations, unstable relationships, poor emotion regulation capabilities, and frequent impulsive and risk-taking behaviors. This became my primary modality after being in-house trained and certified as a DBT therapist at a placement for adult clients, which, after certification the first time, included facilitating a basic DBT group service 5-days per week, facilitating another more advanced DBT group 3-days per week, and facilitating an in-depth skills practice group 1-day per week; this schedule continued for 2 years along with including DBT in my individual therapy sessions.

Besides DBT and working with individuals that struggle with self-harm and suicidal ideation, I am also qualified and competent to work with a multitude of diagnoses and include a range of other therapeutic modalities.

Life Coach Services:

I’m also a Life Coach trained in helping adolescents, teens, and young adults launch from the family home. That may include finding work and creating a resume, or applying to schools and dorm living, or it may include the exploration, organization, and researching of other important personal life goals and skills.

My role as your coach is to help you outline personal goals, organize a blueprint of action steps to move you closer to your goal, and provide additional support, as needed, as you continue working towards completing your goal. The amount of time required to meet goals will vary per person and will depend on multiple factors, most importantly of which is the dedication on your part in working towards your set goals.

It is such a cliche to hear someone say "I love to help people feel better about themselves"...however it is so true! My favorite part about helping people through their process is being able to experience an "ah ha" moment with them. Seeing the clarity that changes a person's posture, eye contact, and speech, even if just for a few moments, is so amazing and satisfying. My goal is to be able to help as many people as possible experience this life changing feeling.
