About
I am a trauma informed counselor and believe many of my clients’ symptoms derive from some kind of traumatic or stressful event, or from ways in which they were treated in past relationships which have caused them to lose themselves or their direction in life. These issues can seem like they were subtle at the time, or not, but they prevent us from experiencing quality of life in some or all areas of our journeys. I provide brainspotting (a fairly new and gentle trauma or stress processing technique), Dialectic Behavior Therapy, EFT Tapping for Anxiety and Shame reduction, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy as well as help with relationships. I have been practicing for 8 years, both in Phoenix and in London and have experience working with all kinds of adults, teens, LGBTQ, Veterans, as well as people who are in recovery from substance abuse or have substance abuse in their families. I achieved my Masters in Trauma Therapy in 2014, and am licensed to practice in Arizona.
I love, love, love, when clients have that “aha” moment when things begin to make sense and they realize they are not such flawed human beings, or are not crazy after all, or defective. They are having normal responses to stressful or abnormal situations and might have been having them most of their lives. It is amazing when people start living more fulfilling lives or having healthier relationships. I truly cannot imagine doing any other job.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Free up to 15 minute phone conversation to ensure we are a good fit. During our first session, I will learn as much as possible about why the client has taken the very courageous step of coming to see me. I will ask about their goals and we will then determine how will achieve them together, how I can help and what to expect.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received a Masters in Professional Counseling from Ottawa University in 2014 where I achieved a 4.0 GPA. I took the longer trauma track as this gave me an in-depth training in trauma informed care for clients. I have training and certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy; training in Brainspotting, Emotion Focused Therapy, EFT Tapping, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna insurance or $100 private pay.
How did you get started in this business?
I have had my own history of dealing with recovery from trauma and substance use and have now been in recovery from both for 34 years. My own life is full and happy, and this would not have been the case without some wonderful therapists along the way many years ago.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship issues, Substance abuse and other addictions, adult children of alcoholics, those in recovery from codependency, Veterans, adults, teenagers. LGBTQ, dual diagnosis, in residential treatment, and in private practice.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Receiving notification from a past client who was very suicidal when she first came to see me and saw no future for herself. She now has life quality, a job she loves, and reports she is well and happy.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure you like the person you are going to share your recovery journey with. Being able to have a good connection with your therapist is the most important element.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is your life like now? When did your uncomfortable symptoms start? What have you tried to date which hasn’t or has worked? What are your goals? Who do you have on your side for support? What are you willing to do to improve your situation?
