About
After 10+ years experience working with women, I've become a specialist in empowering females to heal, grow and accomplish their potential with real results.
With experience in Non-Profit (focused on supporting front-line workers aiding survivors of sex-trafficking abroad), Clinical Private Practice (as a Trauma Specialist, Expressive Art Therapist, and Group Facilitator), and High Performance Consulting (designed to move women from plateau to their Zone of Genius), I've dedicated my career to understanding how to best help women heal and become their highest performing selves.
My first love was Fashion and Arts. I acquired a BA in Fashion Marketing, and followed that path to acquire a Masters in Professional Counseling with a Concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy, as well as two additional post graduated degrees in Trauma (with a focus on Child/Adult Trauma).
I've also received specialized training and certification in Positive Psychology, LGBTQ Population, CBT, ACT, DBT, MSFT and Mindfulness.
Currently, I run Layne & Hugh Consulting and offer support services at Fion Roux.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
As a new client, it can be feel intimdating to find the right professional to help. Credentials, while important, often aren't enough to indicate the right fit for YOU.
When deciding who to work with, my best reccommendation is to ask if they offer a brief, free consultation. This is an easy, low-risk way to get a feel for the professional, ask questions and assess whether or not that individual is someone you feel comfortable, excited and confident working with on your goals.
It's important to trust your gut. A professional can be amazing at their job and still not the right fit for YOU. It's your time, your money and your life- make sure you feel comfortable moving forward the professional you choose.
Lastly, be sure to ask lots of questions. Try not to be intimidated by credentials, experience or gender. This is a professional that you should INTENTIONALLY choose. Tell them some basics about yourself and ask how they would approach working with you. Ask questions about concerns, fears or process. Schedule the call at a time when you feel your best and when you have the privacy and time to have a meaningful conversation about 'best fit'.
In summary, always trust your gut. Don't be afraid to ask questions. And don't feel afraid to shop around. Most professionals in the helping field are happy to suggest another professional if they are not the best fit for you. Remember, the professional wants you to have a good fit, it makes our job way easier!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Some helpful questions to ask before working with someone might be:
- How would you handle "insert your main concern or issue"?
- Have you successfully worked with clients that "insert key characteristics about yourself"? (ie working moms struggling with divorce and co-parenting, or anxiety and cannabis use, or trauma history coming up in a new relationship, etc)
- What does a session look like?
- What can I expect (time, duration of therapy, homework, etc) to reach my goals with you?
