Frequently asked questions

During the initial free consultation, why you are looking for an attorney, your goals for the case, and general ideas for how to achieve those goals.

Once I am retained, I will notify the court and file any necessary motions we need in order to prepare for court.  I will contact any witnesses you have told me about to make sure they are really on your side and able to testify with helpful information.

Lawyers are required to take a certain amount of law classes every year to keep up to date.  Most years, Jennifer takes more classes than are required.  Instead of looking at what she has to do, she seeks out classes that are relevant to her law practice without regard to whether she's already met the minimum quota this year.

Before going to law school, Jennifer worked as a corrections officer and saw first-hand what the life of an inmate is like.

Criminal cases are billed on a flat-fee system.  The amount of the fee is based on the amont of time and work I expect to be needed for the case.

Family law cases are billed on an hourly rate and requre a $3000 down payment, which is held in trust.  I access that money as it is earned and the cilent replenishes the account at least once a month.

After I graduated from college, I went to work as a corrections officer at a local jail.  I met many people and heard some of their stories, some of which were unjust.  Fairness is extremely important to me and I wanted to be able to help the ones who really didn't belong in jail.  I went to visit a law school and knew without a doubt that lawyering was to be my future.
