Ms. Chow is incredibly personable and professional. I've known her for several years and have found her to be supportive. I would recommend her to anyone. I appreciate her approach in building up self-esteem and empowering women.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When a new client calls, I schedule a free 30 minute consultation either by phone or in the office. During the consultation, we get to know each other and find out if there is a good fit. I give the client all of the paperwork necessary so we don't have to take up time in a session. We usually schedule our work for the next week and begin to dive into deeper issues in the second session. Clients decide when our work is done. Some stay weeks, and others take longer.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Master's in Clinical Mental Health from Marymount University.  Before working in mental health, I was a special education teacher for 10 years, most recently in Fairfax County.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

All of my sessions are $135 for 55 minutes.

How did you get started in this business?

When I was a teacher, I was doing a lot of counseling work with students and their families.  Eventually, the academic part of teaching was getting in the way of my true passion.  I left teaching to become a full-time grad student.  After receiving my Master's in Clinical Mental Health, I opened Bluebird Counseling Center, a private practice in McLean, Virginia.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with women, men, couples, LGBTQIA, and teens.  I specialize in empowerment issues for women, but also see clients who have anxiety, depression, social phobia, adjusting new circumstances, failure to launch, and career counseling.
