About
I invite you to view my website as well as my reviews on google. Beckylennox.com. I graduated from Texas Tech over 25 years ago and obtained degrees in Child and Adolescent Development, Family Studies, and became a Child Development Specialist as well as a family and couples counselor. I have worked with individuals of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. I have also obtained the Certified Restorative Therapist, Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor, Certified Anger Control Counselor, Mediation Certification, and Life Coach Certifications.
My educational ideas were built on a direct and firm developmental approach. Understanding the developmental process of every human being is vitally important. Therefore, I explore life events with each individual or their parents, and this gives me a clear understanding of their growth, development, learning, adaptation, and coping skills during different life stages. I use art, sand, and play therapy as a way of exploring thoughts and feelings leading us to behaviors.
I have a direct approach to life as well as counseling. I feel that the individuals I see respect truth and desire to hear the truth so they can move forward. My patients describe me as having an “out-of-the-box” approach with kids as well as adults. My office is purposefully designed to not be the typical clinical setting. Having no desire for a standard office setting, I created instead an atmosphere of uniqueness, comfort, safety, and warmth. I feel that each person I see has their own personalized jigsaw puzzle they bring to me, eager to put the many pieces in place. Together, we begin a discovery process by examining the pieces of their puzzle, leading them to understanding.
I offer home visits when needed. Many times it is necessary for me to observe family units to understand how the family dynamics work or how a child acts in their home setting. This may mean recognizing a behavioral issue, witnessing a child not staying in their bed, or gaining insight into routines and family dynamics.
My team consists of Dexter, a golden retriever therapy dog, Woody, a 50-pound tortoise, and our new addition...three baby chicks!
Whatever is agreed upon, whether it is me meeting with school teachers or administrators, making a home visit, speaking with key people in someone’s life, contacting an absent parent, talking with a child’s incarcerated parent, or contacting an estranged family member, I will do so.... When the outcome benefits someone’s life. Guess that is part of my “out-of-the-box” attitude about life.
Bring in your personalized jigsaw puzzle and we will begin the process.
Whether I am working with frantic parents of a newborn, a toddler who has elected himself boss of the home, a child who has continues to disobey at school, an adolescent believing his parents are stupid, a broken-hearted college girl, a couple dealing with infidelity, or a family who has experienced the death of a child, I make a practice to meet my patients where they are emotionally.
I want each person I work with to know they do have a voice, and by becoming accountable, they can change their lives for the better.
