    Frequently asked questions

Phone or in-person  consultation first. In-person consultation is preferred. In an in-person consultation I can look into your criminal case, history, and the applicable law prior to the consultation, and best consult and advise you. Phone consultation is free. In-person consultation requires a small fee (that fee will be applied towards the fee for representation, if you choose to use my legal services).

Doctorate of Jurisprudence, South Texas College of Law

Bachelor of Arts, Political Science, University of Oklahoma

Solo practicioner, LeGrande Law - Criminal Defense, 2012 to present.

Pricing depends on the seriousness of the case, expectations of the client, and my experience handling criminal cases.

In a criminal case, I charge a contract fee, not a retainer fee. A retainer fee is where you pay a set amount, the attorney then subtracts from that per-hour. A contract fee is a set price for pre-trial representation on your case. If your case is set for trial, an additional contract fee (trial-fee) is required.

For expunctions and petitions for non-disclosure of criminal history information- I charge a set fee that includes the filing fee, and service of process fees.

In a DWI case, fees for pre-trial representation will depend on whether you have any prior DWI convictions, and, whether you desire representation at an ALR (Administrative License Revocation) hearing, and to Petition the Court for an Occupational License.

For criminal appeals, you MUST send me a copy of the transcript for your trial (or other hearing) before I will consider taking on your appeal. Please contact me to make arragements.

I do handle a very small number of civil defense litigation cases, by retainer only.

I have wanted to be a criminal defense attorney ever since I first started law school. The idea that people could be convicted of something they did not do bothered me. I took every criminal law class I could during law school. When I was a law clerk for a criminal defense law firm during law school

All types of people charged with criminal offenses.

Many dismissals and not guilty verdicts over the years, but being able to givea client facing a long prison sentence his left back after getting the evidence in his case suppressed always stands out.

If you are charged with a crime, how it resolves can impact the rest of your life. Given the seriousness of the situation, choose your attorney carefully. Look them up. Read reviews at multiple sites. Consult with the lawyer you seek to hire, not their associate or paralegal.

Do I need a criminal defense lawyer? - meaning: Am I (or is someone I know) charged with a crime?

What are my concerns? What are my expectations? How will this situation affect my work and home life?
