For over 25 years, I have helped struggling individuals and couples identify what stands in the way of them giving and receiving the love they want and the life success they desire. With a practical and direct therapy style, and an excellent sense of humor, I don’t just listen. I also provide honest, realistic feedback that can be immediately put to use even if your loved ones don’t change. I am always respectful, strengths-based and collaborative.

If you are exhausted from trying, or the one most hurt, it’s natural, even logical to want others to do the changing. Yet focusing on what is within your control yields the greatest improvements. And if your partner has a similar willingness to improve, you have the best chance of a positive outcome.

When possible, I focus on the present and move forward. Sometimes changing how you think leads to change in feelings and what you do. Sometimes attending to the underlying emotions around your interactions opens up hearts and communication.

However we get there, you will have a toolkit at therapy’s end that moves you through conflict more successfully and increases the intimacy you desire.

Frequently asked questions

I schedule appointments by email.  Initial sessions are 60 F long. Potential clients bring with them a completed history questionnaire that saves time so we can start work in the first session.  Typically, by the end of that session, specific,   measurable  goals and a treatment plan are created.

follow-p sessions or individual are 60 minutes long and 90 for couples.  Research shows 90 minutes is most effective for couples.  Homework assignments may be given, and while effective, but they are rarely time-consuming.

, I ask them to contact me if they wish to schedule follow-up sessions.  I do it this way to give them time to discuss whether I am a good fit for both of them. Most individuals know by the end of the first session whether they wNt to return.
