Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I charge a flat fee for all agreed matters. The flat fee covers all court costs and attorney fees. Contested matters normally require a retainer paid up front and is billed hourly.
Normally- I like to talk to clients on the phone to get an idea of what is going on in their lives and why they are needing a family law attorney. Than I like to set up an in person meeting with the client so they can meet me in person and decide if they wish to retain me.
I take minimum of 15 hours of continuing legal education every year.
I take family law very personally because I am adoptive father of two children. When I married my wife she had two children from a previous relationship. Unfortunately, their Father was a non factor in their lives. When my wife and I had our first child Landon, it was important to me that Hallie and Alex be my children and not just step-children. This made our family complete. Children are a blessing and should be treated as such.
My practice is 100% focused on family law. I am known by family law judges throughout north texas and surrounding counties.
I have handled contested and uncontested divorces and custody matters. I recently was able to get the court to award my client the marital home, 75% of the husband's retirement and alimony for 5 years. Before she hired me her husband said she would get nothing.
It's important to realize that all family attorneys are not alike as in any profession. I pride myself in providing top notch legal work at competitive prices. I have been recognized by family courts for my knowledge of the law and my tenacity in the courtroom.
Is their family matter agreed or contested? They also need to understand that family law matters can be very complicated and they are going to need a lawyer with a successful track record and years of experience.
