Discovering my mission was sweet, but then showing me the steps I could take to accomplish it - well, that was the icing. Thank you so much.

  • Ellen Gordon

Since meeting with you, I feel like my life has transformed. That weight on my shoulders is gone and I can breathe so much better. Thank you so much.

  • Gail Rothstein

I was concerned at first because I felt I should be able to do this on my own. However, once we got started, I quickly realized how important it is to have someone who intimately understands the search process act as my guide. I am able to interview with far more confidence knowing what employers look for. Great work!

I truly appreciate the sessions we've had and the way you helped me redefine myself. Your suggestions and insights paved the way for a smoother job search. I am especially glad I took your advice about the salary question in the interview. That really helped.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

A starting point is to establish and have the new client tangibly experience a rapport and trust. This allows a level of comfort to guide the support that follows, and ensures that the client is being helped in the most effective way. The support is most effective when done face-to-face; however, extending my services on a national basis simply means that many sessions will be done over the phone or using email.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I utilize extensive backgrounds and expertise in career and life coaching, resume writing, recruitment, career marketing and counseling, and possess a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

The cost associated with writing a professional resume and cover letter is dependent on many factors, such as your current job situation, the number of positions you have held, the type of position you are seeking relative to your career history, and the extent of your professional training. We will gain a much better sense of the time and effort, and therefore cost, required to create your new resume, once we have looked at these factors.

For a life coaching or career counseling session, I use an hourly rate with a sliding scale.

How did you get started in this business?

I started TopDog Group as a meaningful response to the challenges most people in life face, and the discontent and frustration job seekers experience in a competitive and uncertain job market. I wanted to provide the tools for living a better life, and highly effective search strategies that would give people a unique and compelling advantage in their search for that "perfect" job.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with people from all walks of life, and for the career end of the business, with recent grads up to C-level directors in just about every career that exists. My focus is to have my clients win, at work and in life - every time. The fact that most of my business now comes from referrals speaks to the success experienced by my clients in their life and career endeavors, and to the integrity I have put into working with them.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I wrote a resume and cover letter for a client who was quite desperate, as they had been out of work for an extended period of time and was experiencing a sense of hopelessness. A day after writing these documents, the client emailed them to a prospective employer in response to a job post, was called for an interview and received an offer. I was able to be a catalyst for transforming someone's pain to joy.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Spend enough time over the phone with this prospective service provider before agreeing to the work. You need to have confidence in this person and in their ability to help you, but more importantly, you really need to feel comfortable with this person. Then, the work you end up doing together will be fulfilling and successful.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

1. What specific service am I looking for?

2. What am I looking to gain in the process?

3. What is a reasonable timeframe for resolution?
