About

As a coach with many years of experience in different therapeutic settings and modalities, I approach each individual as a unique being deserving of my complete attention and a creative approach. Together we can go deeply into issues that are both timely and recurring. We will examine what is important to you today, what is both valuable and a hindrance fom the past, and look toward a fulfilling and exciting future.

I have experience working with families who have a member experiencing serious mental health and / or developmental challenges , and I love being able to guide aprocess in which new possibilities arise.

I join with you to create a safe environment in which all subjects, opinions, and experiences are approachable, and can be explored. What you believe about your own life, about who you are , why you are here, and what it all means- this is work that lies beneath our everyday lives and that you deserve to have the time to formulate, be heard. Discovering on ever deeper levels who you are, and where you truly want to be going, will open a whole new world!

My experience ranges from working with students and young people just finding their way, refugees and asylees landing in a new universe, to elders changing course and fulfilling long held dreams, to individuals and families in serious crisis. I love finding new avenues of growth, never before imagined paths to personal fulfillment and family harmony, and for some, starting all over, brand new.

    Frequently asked questions

After  a sample session and deciding to work together, we schedule a longer session to get to know your most burning questions and immediate needs , as well as where you see yourself going in the future. We talk about core values, themes in what life has brought to you, and what you feel you have brought to the world. We set some goals for the next period of time, and have a plan personal exploration and even assignments for the time until we meet again.

Besides my early degree in Psychology and professional certifications as a Special Education and Waldorf teacher, I received my certification in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy in 1991, and have also certificates in Anthroposphical (Steiner) Psychology, Certificates in International Trauma work and Expressive Arts and Trauma, in Organizational Develpoment and Fundraising, and certificates in International Conflict Transformation and the Psychosocial foundations of Peacebuilding.  I also have training in puppetry as a healing art!

I am presently working toward a cerificate in Psychosynthesis Caoching.

I work on a retainer and on a sliding scale, invoiced monthly.

Timing can be up to you, but for a real exploration and change, I suggest a three month minimum with a once a week meeting. We can work together on what you need, and what is affordable. A long term realtionship is also possible, as I have at least one client for more than five years.

My experience as a child and young person was influenced by a family history of alchoholism, abandonment, and trauma. I was graced with a mother whose wisdom helped me to cope and who told stories about people with the question always- why?

From here I was determined to study psychology and to help create environments that promote healing, such as therapeutic communities and healthy educational models. I have gone on to ask questions about traumatic events and their healing, and have a deep interest in peacebuilding both in the home and in the world.

I have worked with highly successful indivuduals who have questions about life and their roles and beliefs, with persons experiencing life-long debilitating mental health challenges and/ or developmental challenges, with refugees ans asylum seekers recovering from layers of trauma and displacement and adjustment to a new country, to persons beginning to taper off of psychotropic medications, under medical supervision, to individuals experiencing grief and loss.

Recently I attended an event at the beginning of the holiday season in which a double spiral garden was created outdoors out of pine boughs, and each person was invited to take a moment and set an intention for the coming year- then walk the spiral in and out with a candle. It was beautful, and so good to pause and think and feel into the coming year, after such a trying 2020!

Think about your primary focus, and feel what will help you to feel most supported, and then search for a person who can help you to build on this!

This can be a surprising journey; it may be someone with a great resume of experience and education, or it may be someone new and fresh to the field. Stay open!

Think about your goals for the relationship, short term and loner term; recognize that these may be quite different, and its is good to be clear at at the outset. Consider what will provide you with a feeling of success!
