Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We've developed a four step, New Start Tax Program where we break your tax problem down into separate steps to simplify them. We first meet with you either in person or over Zoom or phone to learn about your situation and come up with a basic plan, then do an analysis of your taxes using our customized software, then negotiate with the IRS, possibly after your tax returns are adjusted, and finally, we wrap it up with the best solution available.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began preparing taxes in 2009 and soon realized I was interested in helping people with tax problems. I achieved the status of IRS Enrolled Agent, which allows me to represent taxpayers before all levels of the IRS, in 2014. Soon afterward, I started my own tax practice, with my area of specialty being tax problem resolution.
I became a fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute in 2017 and also achieved certification as an Advanced Crypto Tax Expert with Crypto Tax Academy in 2018, one of the first and the most comprehensive certifications in cryptocurrency taxation that existed.
I now focus solely on tax problem resolution with an area of specialty in cryptocurrency issues. I recently changed the business name from Know Tax, to Ohio Tax Rescue, to better represent the work I do.
I believe in fighting for whatever the law allows me to get for my clients, whether it seems like the law should allow it or not. I take advantage of any benefits eligible to every client. If the law allows it, I'll work aggressively to get it for you.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We believe in charging flat rates for different services so you don't have surprises. If we end up taking longer than we expect to take for a particular service, that's on us, not you.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I specialize in working with small businesses and self-employed people, but also work with individuals quite often.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A client recently came to me after receiving a notice from the IRS that said he owed many thousands of dollars after he failed to report some income. After correcting his old returns and responding to the notice, he ended up with a small refund from the IRS instead of owing anything.
