Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find it very important that I understand what a potential client is looking for in an attorney, what legal issue they are experienceing and whether I am the right person for that job. I prefer meeting potential clients in person and talking with them. If we are a fit, we can move onto what legal issues they face and how I can help.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have spent the past 15 years striving to continually learn and keep abreast of nuanced changes in the law so that I can best serve my clients needs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I treat everyone who hires me the same and I dedicate the same 100% effort for each client. Therefore, I perform all legal services on an hourly basis rather than charge a flat rate. I do not charge a flat rate because it is inequitable. If I can get a case done for client in 5 hours, I prefer to be paid for 5 hours work. Alternatively, if you have a complicated case and it takes a lot of time and effort to resolve, I want to get paid for the service I provide.
Let me give you an example. A flat rate Chapter 13 bankruptcy case in Cleveland is $3,500, without regard to the amount of time an attorney spends on the case. If an attorney spends 5 hours on it, they make $3,500. If an attorney spends 25 hours on it, they make $3,500. In the first scenario, the client is paying $600/hour. That's a very happy lawyer. In the second scenario, the client is paying $175/hour. That's a lawyer that's losing money on his hourly rate. In either scenario someone is not happy.
I perform Chapter 13 bankruptcy services at an hourly rate. In the above examples, the first client would have paid me $1,250. The second client would have paid $6,250. Both would have received the same great service they deserved and paid for. With me, no one sacrifices. Its fair.
