Diana G. Cunningham, Attorney At Law

Diana G. Cunningham, Attorney At Law

About

I made an effort in setting up my practice to make it convenient and easy for clients to work with me. Use of set fees for many matters and traveling to clients are efforts toward that client convenience.

For over 25 years, I have represented people in divorces, family court matters, estate planning, estate litigation and probate as my primary areas of practice. This includes appeals when necessary.

I always do an initial 1/2 hour conference at no charge as I consider that the time where a client and I can determine whether we like each other and can work well together. If you have a question, give me a call and I am happy to answer your questions!

Frequently asked questions

We start with an initial consultation to determine if I can meet the client's needs, and whether we believe we can work well together. From there, it all depends on what the case involves and what needs to be done immediately. That is where the plan must start.  Then, we put the plan together for the balance of the case.

I try to let clients know what to expect and the approximate time frames each stage of a case takes and involves. My goal is to remove the "mystique" of the law to assure clients always understand what is going on, why it is going on and the importance of their understanding the process.

As with all attorneys, we take Continuing Legal Education classes on a regular basis to assure that we are up to date in our practice areas.  I, personally, take a minimum of 14 hours of training a year. Occasionally, twice that if there are major changes in my practice areas.

My website sets forth certain things that I do on a flat fee basis. Beyond that, it depends on the case as to whether a flat fee or hourly charges make more sense.

Although I occasionally work with businesses, virtually all of my clients are regular people, going through some difficulty in their lives for which they need guidance and help.

Always ask for the approximate number of cases they have handled that match your specific needs, with a few examples of how they relate to your case. Also, find out the percentage of their practice devoted to your area of work.

In talking to any professional, always have your end goal in mind. The discussion should be whether your goal can be reached, what will it take to do so, and, most important, whether your goal is reasonable under the circumstances of your situation.
