Welcome to Oasis Counseling and Consulting, located in the heart of New York City. I, Somiari Fubara am a certified healing-centered practitioner and trainer, a certified trauma specialist, a certified breath body and mind teacher, and a certified integrative medical provider. My areas of counseling concentration include healing, mindfulness, and spirituality. As a mental health therapist, I use mindfulness and other healing-based practices to help clients and organizations map out the journey of healing.

I have received extensive training in the treatment of substance issues, mental illnesses, emotional regulation, social-emotional learning, restorative practices, trauma, and healing practices. I used to be the psychologist at the American University of Nigeria for 120 Chibok girls. In 2022, in collaboration with RAINN and No Limit Generation, I co-authored and co-created, the first of its kind training series called Lean on Me: A caregiver's guide to safeguarding children and supporting healing from sexual abuse. I have been interviewed by 60 minutes, CNN, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, BBC, Psych Central, Healthline, and Aljareeza. Her work with released Chibok girls was featured on 60 minutes in 2019.
