Somya Kaushik is an experienced trial turned transactional attorney, having represented both defendants and plaintiffs, and has worked on large cases in several areas of the law including federal criminal defense, complex commercial litigation, civil rights law, personal injury litigation and medical malpractice litigation, start up law, and intellectual property.
Her recent practice involves helping startups, small businesses and entrepreneurs navigate the legal world of corporate structure and governance, IP protection and agreements, capital raise, equity vesting structures, employment agreements and technology/SaaS agreements. She helps companies navigate the complex data privacy regulations, including CCPA, HIPAA, GDPR and COPPA
Kaushik has represented clients internationally, in both complex commercial litigation and transactional cases, as well as intellectual property and international law cases. Most notably, she has worked with a team of lawyers representing a former prime minister.
Kaushik also served as the associate general counsel for a strategic consulting company, and is an advisor to several startups.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We'll do an intake over the phone/skype or in person (whichever is convenient for the potential client) and go over your needs or questions.
Then we'll set out a timeline and next steps document that will give you a better understanding of what it is that we will provide and when you can expect it. We will also include a budget estimate along with what additional information we will need from you.
If you like what you see, we will send over an official Client Welcome Package that has an Engagement Letter, Retainer Agreement and additional detailed information.
