When you call or come in, you know exactly who you are dealing with. It's not a different person everytime. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin by meeting with clients at a consultation so we can get to know each other. My goal is to gather as much information about the situation that brought them to me & how I can best serve them. Ultimately, what do they want to get out of the action that they are looking to start. Are there things that they willing to compromise on & things that they are unwilling to compromise on? This helps me better understand what their end goal is at the end of the legal proceeding. This knowledge is helpful in developing a strategy to work with the client towards the best outcome possible. Legal proceedings are a stressful & emotional experience. I want to help to make it as painless as possible for the client. In most cases, clients don't know what they're getting into & know little about how the legal process works. Many clients tell me that they wish that they had contacted me sooner but were intimidated by the process, expense & threats by spouses/partners, that if they went to an attorney, they would lose everything. My goal is to empower them with knowledge so they understand & feel a sense of control in every step of the process. Knowledge is the best strategy! I don't advocate divorce. I promote education. An educated client is then able to make wiser decisions for themselves & therefore be in a better position to reach their ultimate goal if they wish to proceed with legal proceedings.
