Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Private, in person meeting/consultation, fully interview the client concerning the subject matter of their representation, fully explain the process and manage their expectations and fully explain potential outcomes so that they can make an informed decision about retaining our services.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law. Twenty-five (25) years practicing law at larger law firms in litigating and evaluating personal injury and wrongful death claims, and also extensive estate planning experience, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney and related matters.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
For estate planning clients, I offer bundled/packaged services as follows: Package 1: Simple Will, Financial Durable Power of Attorney, Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare and Living Will/Advanced Directive - ALL for a one time payment of $397 for a single person and $497 for a couple (a significant savings). Most attorneys charge over $1,000 for similar estate plans.
Package 2: All of the above PLUS a Trust for asset protection and/or tax planning - ALL for $697. Again, most attorney charge over $1,500 for similar packages.
Most of the work can be done digitally as well - you do not even need to come to my office for our initial consultation unless you want to. If you are located in a different part of the states of Kansas or Missouri (I am located in the Kansas City, Missouri area), then we can do consultations by phone or through Zoom or a similar online service.
I can guarantee your estate plan will be finished within 5 business days of when you have submitted all of the required information concerning your assets, family, gifts, etc.
For plaintiff personal injury matters, my standard rates are based upon a contingency contract with my rates being 25% of any recovery before suit filed (plus reimbursement of advanced costs off the top); 33% after suit is filed (plus costs) and 40% after suit is filed (plus costs).
