Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In person interview and immediate initial preparation of the documents needed to get their case underway. Because the complaint for divorce or custody is the first document that the opponent, the opponent's lawyer, and the judge will see, it is very important that the initial impression that all three gain from reading that document be favorable. A hastily-prepared, boilerplate document sends a message that the attorney is not sufficiently detail-oriented and serious about the case to do an effective job.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 40 years of law practice experience as well as having written a number of articles, blogs, legal briefs, complaints and similar documents in which legal knowledge, advocacy skills and empathy all combine to produce an optimum result.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Every case is different, so the hourly rate, the down payment (retainer) and other terms are all negotiable. My fees are competitive with those of other attorneys, but as a general statement I believe that legal consumers get what they pay for. However, premium fees don't guarantee premium quality services, as there are plenty of lawyers who charge far more than what they are truly "worth."
