About
Melissa Pearce & Associates, PLC has been helping clients throughout Southeast Michigan since 2009. We primarily serve clients from Genesee, Ingham, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Shiawassee, Washtenaw, Wayne, and Jackson counties, though we are happy to represent clients from outside these areas as well. We focus primarily on Family Law, Firearms Law, Estate Planning with or without Firearms, and Criminal Law.
Our goal is to represent the best interests of our clients and their loved ones. We know that every client has unique needs, and we make those needs our priority in every case. Throughout the case, we will also make it a priority to keep you informed of everything that is going on, and provide you with advice and insight regarding what is coming next.
Divorce should not be an issue that children have to deal with. We enjoy educating our clients on how not to use their children in the divorce process and allow the children to be children.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first free telephone meeting is with our Client Coordinator. She will ask questions to determine if the firm can serve the client's goals. If not, we notify the potential client immediately. If we handle the client's type of case, the Client Coordinator will schedule a paid consultation where we review the client's goals and wishes to determine if we are the right firm for the client. This fee is applied to retainers if we are hired at the end of that meeting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold the Family Law Certificate from ICLE.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
No. We offer flat fee divorces to clients but the fees are based on the county of filing and the issues in the matter. Potential cases are evaluated for potential issues to be handled and fees are set to ensure the client is paying a fair fee for his or her unique set of facts and circumstances.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
The key is to find an attorney that you can work with as this will be an emotional time. Will the attorney tell you the truth and inform you realistically about your desired goals and outcomes? This is an important consideration in hiring an attorney.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How much will a contested divorce cost me?
Where can I find funding for the divorce?
What options does the attorney have when it comes to payments?
Will the attorney guide me through the process or make decisions for me?
