Leaving the farmlands of Central Illinois, Duane graduated in 1973 from Southern Illinois University with Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Accounting and Finance. After a few years of practice as a Certified Public Accountant, Duane was awarded the Juris Doctor degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology-Chicago Kent College of Law. Duane is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, United States District Court Northern District of Illinois and the United States Supreme Court.
Having received the coveted American Jurisprudence Award in Criminal Procedure while in law school, Duane pursued his interests in the field of forensic accounting and investigative techniques, surveillance, and security. Duane’s years of experience as a Licensed Private Detective has proven to be a very valuable asset often called upon and applied to resolve current client matters.
Because of his accounting and legal background and sensitivity toward the vulnerable and unprotected, Duane was often appointed Guardian ad litem by the Cook County Probate Judges to represent minor children, the elderly, and disabled persons.
Establishing his law firm in Palatine, Illinois, Duane represents clients in the area of family law, where he litigates diverse and sophisticated property and family law issues at the trial and appellate levels.
The firm primarily represents clients in Cook County, DuPage County, Lake County, Kane County and McHenry County.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin by listening to what the client's issues and concerns are and what expectations they have as their goals in retaining my representation. Then I explain and outline the parameters to achieve those goals within the limitations of the law. Finally, we pursue those strategies that the client and I have discussed and have agreed to pursue to obtain the cleint's desired goals.
