About

We only offer live video or phone sessions. Through the combination of our education, counseling/coaching experience and life experience we are equipped to point you in a new and better direction than the one in which you have been heading.

Both my wife and I are trained professional counselors. As a couple we have over 90 years of marriage experience, over 70,000 hours of counseling, and over 80 years of working with couples and individuals.

I enjoy getting to know peopled and earning their trust. I love it when they trust me enough to let me in to their inner world and thoughts. I love it when I am able to help them see real solutions that they were never ever to see before.

It is a great thing to see real change in the life of an individual or a couple and to know that it is for multiple generations.

These two are THE power couple when it comes to practicing in their marriage what they preach in their office. They know their stuff, are down to earth, deeply compassionate, and funny. As a marriage and family therapist, I am VERY picky who I recommend and David and Debbie are hands down at the top my very selective list.

David McFadden has provided counsel to me in a way that helps me find clarity and come to see my situation in a different light. He is a good listener who has helped me to set goals to move my life in the right direction. I never hesitate to reach out for some more session time with him when I encounter new situations that could benefit from his insight and the way he helps me process what is happening. I highly recommend D & D Counseling for whatever kind of life challenges a person faces.

I had Dr. David McFadden as my counselor and he has helped me with different struggles in my life. He was able to help me see past my unemployment, church, family issues that I could not fix or correct myself and learn to forgive those that have hurt me.

    HOW IT WORKS WITH ME

We only do live video or phone counseling sessions.  Once you have made a decision to hire me, you can:

    1. text me a picture of the front and back of your insurance card to 630-333-3202 (my cell)

    2. Text me your address and date of birth (all this info is needed to bill the insurance company)

    3. Text me your email address (I use this to send you an invite to sign on to Thera-link so we can schedule sessions.)

Our billing people set up the billing process and will bill your insurance directly.  We will mail you a monthly statement for your copay or can bill you directly through Thera-Link by email.  We will bill your insurance company $160 per session and they will discount that to the amount our contract says they will pay us and then let us know your copay. If we are in your insurance plan, you will pay no more than the co-pay your company determines.  If you are paying out of pocket we charge $85 for each 45 minute session.

I like and I believe in people. I find people to be incredible and fascinating in their ability to cope with, deal with, live through, learn from and change as a result of the experiences life throws at them. I always, always believe there is a way to move forward. There are times when the way is hard to find; there are times when our brains just shut down to the possibility that there is a way through the mess and uncertainty in front of us.

It is my goal to understand each person I work with, to know and feel their concerns and to find the best pathway to achieve their individual goals.

I bring a combination of education, (a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and one in Pastoral Counseling as well as a Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling), a wealth of experience (in life as well as my work as a therapist) and a personality that is built for working with people. I help people because that is my life’s calling - what I give to the world and what I feel I have always been called to do and become.

I have a great marriage and we have worked hard over the years to take care of each other. We both play a big part in each other’s lives. Check out the “about us” page to learn more.

I have always been one to take on personal challenges. I have ridden my bicycle to the top of the highest paved road in the world 4 times - 60 miles of pedaling uphill - I don’t know why once was not enough! I am not afraid to tackle something difficult. I am willing to jump in with you and help you figure out how to take on the challenge, trial, difficulty, tragedy, major decision or struggle that you are facing. If it can happen in life, I have either experienced it, gone through it with a family member, or worked with someone who has. I will stick with you until we get it figured out and resolved and you are achieving your goals.

If a client has insurance in Illinois it is very likely that I am a provider and we can bill their insurance for counseling.  This is less likely if it is a HMO plan.

If a client is paying out of pocket, I charge $75 for each 45 minute live video session.

My wife and I both felt called to counsel others early in our marriage.  I was a pastor when we were married and we always had people coming to us for help with their marriages and family situations.

In 1994 we made a planned career change from full time ministry to starting a counseling practice.  Our practice grew to include 3 separate private practice offices in 3 different cities and 2 satellite offices in two other towns.  The practice grew to 12 full time therapists and 20 employees at one point.  We both saw patients full time, as well as, managing the administration of the practice.  We also provided supervision and training for the full time therapists we employed.

In 2018, we sold the practice.  We determined that we loved the work of counseling, but no longer wanted the burden of running the business.  It was a great move for us, allowing us more flexibility in life.  At that point in time, we moved from face to face counseling in an office to face to face counseling via live video conferencing.
