STEP 1: Schedule your first appointment by either calling 678-999-3390 to speak with our assistant, Tiffany, or by emailing her at [email protected], or schedule yourself through through the online client scheduling portal at
STEP 1: Your first session is 80 minutes, and is an in-person interview with both of you and your counselor.
STEP 2: At home on your own, each of you will complete a thorough online assessment separately called "The Relationship Checkup" before your individual meeting. It's 400 items, research-based, and takes about 1 - 1.5 hours to complete. Do not share answers with your partner.
STEP 3: You will then each schedule to meet with your counselor individaully, alone with the counselor to discuss your own perspective on the relationship (one 45 minute session per person, can be on different days).
STEP 3: You will meet your counselor together for the "Feedback Session" where your counselor will discuss their perspective on your relationship, including your strengths and areas for growth as a couple, as well as your individualized treatment plan. Your treatment plan is a road map for how your counselor plans to help you to work on your goals (whether intimacy, communication, conflict, affair recovery, etc.), based on the decades of research by the Gottman Institute.
At Couples Counseling ATL, we use the most scientific, evidence-based interventions, inculding video-recording (to provide you with direct feedback to "watch yourself" later), pulse oximeters (measures your heart rate and blood oxygen level), worksheets (for education), and moment-by-moment feedback and coaching on your interactions.
