What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would say do your research, but definitely get some professional guidance or help from a lawyer. I have seen way too many people go to court without an attorney and end up with a bad result (some times very bad) simply because they did not know the rules of the game, what to say, what to ask for, when to object, how to introduce evidence, what to tell the judge, etc.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Think about what you want to accomplish and what you would like the end result to be of your particular case. This way you can communicate that to the attorney and he or she can advise you about whether it is something that they can accomplish, worth pursuing, or even possible.
