Frequently asked questions

We utilize the practice of the initial consultation via telephone.  This allows the client to determine if this firm is potentially a good fit for them without the time and effort of driving to the office to have this initial consultation.  If both parties agree to work together, a written contractaul agreement is signed by the client and attorney prior to the commencement of work on the client's matter.

BA - Wofford College - 1986

JD - Mercer University - 1989

1989 - 1997 - prosecuting attorney

1997 - present - private practice

Professional fees for legal work are based upon a variety of factors and vary upon the complexity of the matter.  In my practice, initial consultation fees are quoted in 30 minute increments - this fee would be applied to your flat fee or retainer fee should you choose to hire this firm.  If your matter is criminal related matter, you will be quoted a flat fee - meaning you pay a set professional fee to have the matter handled on your behalf.  If your matter is a civil related matter you will be quoted an hourly rate and will be requested to pay an initial retainer fee prior to work commencing on your matter. The hourly rate is deducted from this retainer fee as work is perfomed - once the intiial retainer is depleted, you will be required to replinish the retainer amount prior to work continuing in your matter.

I started out as a prosecuting attorney in the City of Atlanta in 1990 and opened my own private practice in 1997.

Our clients are everyday people who are in need of legal services that everyday people need - either in criminal related matters or civil related matters which impact their daily lives.  These clients are people who have been arrested and need a lawyer to guide them through the criminal justice system, to a person wanting a contract reviewed prior to signing the contract, to a parent needing help with their child in the juvenile justice system, to someone who been injured in an auto accident, to a person wanting guidance in starting a new business.

Be comfortable with the person you hire to help you and feel like you can trust that person to best advance your position.

In a legal setting those questions will vary depending upon the clients needs - however, the one question which should be at the top of the list is "Am I comfortable with this person handling my matter?"
