About

After 17 years of family law practice I have found that the best resolution for most family law cases is to find common ground and build on that in an attempt to settle as much as possible. Very rarely is litigation the best option for the family, although when it is necessary I can and do vigorously litigate all types of family law cases, including timesharing, child support, alimony, paternity and adoption. I am the only attorney in my office so you will not be handed over to a junior associate. You get the benefit of my experience at a reasonable fee.

I get satisfaction when I assist my clients in moving forward in their life goals. I always think it is a success when a client is able to definitively and peacefully close one chapter of their life and start a new beginning.

Donna is extremely professional and did an amazing job for me every step of the way, including getting a favorable outcome in my very stressful divorce. She did an excellent job of communicating and making sure we were on the same page, which helped to ease the stress of going through a divorce. I have recommended her to others and they have thanked me for the recommendation after also having a great experience with her.

Ms. Buchholz is incredibly intelligent and professional. She is very personable yet she is also a force to be reckoned with if you are on the opposite side of the table, making her an incredible advocate. She clearly keeps up to date with the law and knew about a case that my ex’s attorney didn’t, and when she brought it up in court it helped me to get a very positive outcome in my divorce. She is the perfect combination of kind and compassionate to me as her client, but formidable to the other side. This is someone you definitely want in your corner, and if you’re getting a divorce and your ex hires her, you should be worried!

Frequently asked questions

Generally it is best for me to speak to the potential client for ten or fifteen minutes on the phone to get a general sense of the goals and expectations. I can usually give you an answer about potential fees during the phone call so you can know up front what the legal matter may cost.

I find that my experience on Law Review and my continued interest in keeping up with the latest case law is imperative.  Many times the family law judge is new to family law, so we need to provide applicable case law precedent to guide the decision.

Right now I charge a flat fee for uncontested divorce with or without children and uncontested adoptions. I also offer discrete task representation, so if you only need my help for drafting a pleading or attending a mediation, I charge much less than if you were to hire me or any attorney for full representation.

I was interested in courtroom litigation when I graduated from law school, and I was offered a great opportunity to learn from an experienced, excellent attorney. In fact, if you don't want to hire me, you should call her-her name is Joryn Jenkins and she is amazing.

I have worked with customers overseas that I have never met except by Skype or telephone due to their employment, and I have worked with people in my South Tampa neighborhood. I even had a client from the North Pole.

After a successful mediation recently, my client unexpectedly hugged me. She isn't really the hugging type, but I was glad that she is happy with the result.

Interview anyone you are considering and hire the person that your gut tells you that you can work with. Family law gets personal, so you need to be comfortable with your attorney.

What is the most important goal? What would the #2 goal be? What would be the worst thing that could happen? What would be a dealbreaker that would drive my case to litigation?
